Paul Yanke and Chill Haze Freeze Out the Competition to Win The Ridge at Wellington’s Turf Tour 1.30-1.35m Jumper Class

Wellington, FL – February 25, 2015 – Paul Yanke walked away victorious in the 1.30-1.35m today, building up to the win by competing at the Ridge at Wellington’s Turf Tour since the beginning of the series. The pristine polo fields of the International Polo Club (IPC) Palm Beach provided a stunning backdrop for the competitive jumper classes, accented by the polo games taking place a few fields down.  Some of the best jumper riders in Wellington tried their hand at Eric Hasbrouck and Nick Granat’s courses in the perfect Florida weather.

Yanke has been very successful throughout the Turf Tour with each of his mounts, claiming wins on Equinvest’s Lady Sparkle and his own Carle, as well as his partner today, Chill Haze.   Chill Haze debuted at the Turf Tour during week four, claiming fourth in one of the 1.30-1.35m classes.  The pair moved up a notch and captured third during both the 5th and 7th weeks of competition in the same class.

He turned in a very fast jump off time of 43.006 seconds aboard Chill Haze to clinch the victory.  Paul was very happy with the use of the turf field by the course designer today.  “The course rode great!  It was a long, flowing track. This field is so big, and the course designer used every bit of it.”

The jump off was ideally suited for Chill Haze, and Yanke was able to put the foot to the floor across the field and make some very efficient turns to stop the clock in such a short time.  “It was a lot of fun-the jump off was a running race, so it was a blast.  (Chill) had a great time!”

Yanke was very complimentary of the grounds. “The footing was amazing!  Even after the couple weeks of showing here, I think it gets better every time.”

When asked why they keep returning to the Turf Tour, Yanke was enthusiastic about his support.  “We come here to support what we think is a wonderful show that we want to see continued. We hear that it is going to be even bigger and better next year, so we are in full support of that. We like coming to the Ridge to support Nona and George’s effort in creating a unique show environment. It is fun and laid back, everyone is happy, and the atmosphere is amazing.”

Annie Phillips aboard her own Pele started off the morning as the third horse in the ring and the first double clear of the day.  She would finish the day in second place, with a time of 46.695 seconds.  Nina Fagerstrom claimed third on Finca Horses Inc’s Cover Girl.

In the second 1.30-1.35m class, Adam Prudent won the class aboard Dorothy Cox’s Pensilvania.   The pair was only the second in the ring and posted the first double clear, which held up the entire day with a time of 33.792 seconds.  Darren Dliin picked up the second place slot with Susan Grange’s Ridley with a time of 36.090 seconds. Darragh Kenny rode Hyperion Stud, LLC’s Chin Quidam VDL near the end of the day to third place with a time of 36.172.
